Located in the central French Quarter of New Orleans, the 1850 House is a neoclassical-style row house that stands on Jackson Square, precisely at 523 St. Ann Street. Thanks to the Louisiana State Museum’s intervention, the house is now a Museum that makes it possible for visitors to experience the lifestyle of an upper-class family during New Orleans’ splendour in the 19th century.

Completed in 1788, Madame John’s Legacy is one of the oldest buildings in the French Quarter of New Orleans and among the finest 18th-century buildings in Louisiana. It’s composed of three buildings: the main house, the kitchen with cooks’ quarters and a two-story garçonnière, or gentlemen’s guest quarters.

The Great Fire of 1794 

Madame John’s Legacy was one of the few buildings in the French Quarter that escaped the flames of the Great Fire of 1794.

The Davenport House: The House That Saved The Historic District

The Davenport House has proudly stood as a symbol of preservation at 323 E. Broughton Street in Savannah, Georgia since 1821. It was the first in a long line of buildings to be saved from demolition and set the tone for historic preservation in the city of Savannah. In 1955, the efforts of seven women kept the Davenport house from crumbling and established the Historic Savannah Foundation; a movement that saved the entire city from erasing its past.

432 Abercorn Street was built in the year 1868. This house was to serve as a home for Civil War veteran Benjamin J. Wilson and his family. At the time, the three-story home was considered the most expensive in Savannah, valued at over $20,000. 432 Abercorn Street is one of many original buildings surrounding the gorgeous Calhoun Square in Savannah, Georgia.

The doors of this restaurant opened in March of 2001 after a long period of restoration that brought the property back to its former glory of the mid-1800s.
