The Story 

Directly opposite the venerable Ursuline Convent on Chartres Street, the Beauregard-Keyes House and Gardens stand as a testament to the American and Frech-Creole designs that inhabit the city of New Orleans. Constructed in 1826, this house has witnessed many stories told by its diverse residents. Today, the Keyes Foundation, established by influential resident Frances Parkinson Keyes, ensures the preservation of this historic gem.

The Story

Nestled in the heart of the New Orleans Garden District, the Trufant House stands as an iconic example of the city’s rich architectural history and symbolic of the city’s themes of resilience. This idyllic, gingerbread house-styled home ironically sits on a corner of land that was once owned by Henry du Pont, former owner of DuPont Chemical Company. 

The Trufant Family

Built between 1891 and 1892, the house was commissioned by Samuel Adams “S.A.” Trufant at a cost of $7,575.

The Napoleon House is a wonderful historic building in the French Quarter of New Orleans. People also call it “Mayor Girod House” or “Nicolas Girod House”, after the mayor of New Orleans, who owned it in the early 1800s and planned to rescue Napoleon Bonaparte from his exile in Saint Helena.
